Midtown Centre

OVERVIEW
From project inception to completion, David performed project and development management services on the Midtown Project. The two existing towers, previously known as the “Forestry and Health Buildings”, were successfully stitched together using innovative design and engineering principles in an Australian Architectural first.

The Midtown Project features a new inner-city laneway seamlessly transitioning from the Heritage façade on Charlotte St across the site to Mary St, providing a passive and active pedestrian experience.

Large light-filled offices across 2,500sqm floor plates feature leafy green vistas. The building also included a 14,000sqm next-generation workplace interconnected across 7-levels connected by a central atrium. This purpose-built fit-out For Rio Tinto offers unparalleled flexibility with up to 30% of its work points being moveable.

The project removed kilometres of concrete spandrel panels from the existing façade system which were reused at Brisbane Airport's second runway project. The use of recycled materials from the original building has reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 11,000 tonnes – equivalent to running the building carbon-neutral for four years – making the Midtown Project the most environmentally responsive Re-use building in Australia.
